The Touhou Collection

So, I was looking through some of my old unsorted merchandise recently when I suddenly realized something: I’ve got the entire current-gen Touhou series sitting in my room, still sealed as PaletWeb delivered them. I was thinking of putting them back where I found them, but much like in one of my previous merchandise posts, a familiar thought struck me – I’m a blogger, and what do bloggers do when they have a mass of things that they can’t really use but want to show the world anyway?

Yeah, you guessed it. They take pictures and post them instead of, y’know, actually writing something.

[Launch] – Animal Crossing: City Folk

Despite what I say about casual gaming and LOL Wii Fit LOL, Animal Crossing is one of those utterly casual and “kiddie” games that I’ll probably always be playing. I’m not sure why I like it when I could just as easily play The Sims (or even try wandering around the real world), but I do know for a fact that I’ve been looking forward to this one almost as much as Gears of War 2. Perhaps it has something to do with childhood memories – funny how my childhood memories stretch up to the early Gamecube generation – but for some reason, whenever I play an Animal Crossing game I always get that warm, fuzzy feeling that I usually only get from good shoujo. I’m aware of how stupid that sounds, but it’s the truth, and it’s probably the only reason I’m still playing a childish game about catching bugs and talking to animals.

But I digress: the new Animal Crossing game for the Wii has just launched in North America, and I’m about to play it. Hopefully it’ll last me until I get around to watching Special A or Nana.

My Japanese Coach – Because I’m too lazy to actually study the language

For those of you who have yet to hear about this little gem of a DS game, My Japanese Coach is the latest in the “coach” series, which is yet another one of Nintendo’s ploys to ignore the hardcore and sell to the masses. However, this time I’m not complaining, because as you well know, any self-respecting anime blogger or otaku should learn at least a little Japanese in their lifetime – and if they can do it through a video game, then why not?

Mother 3 Fan Translation – Welcome to Moonside, in English!

No, you’re not reading this wrong; there’s only one video game series on Earth (to my knowledge) in which a Carpet Monster would be brave enough to block your way. That’s right, it’s the latest incarnation of Earthbound, and it’s now in English.
