Not much of a milestone, but I figured I might as well celebrate it anyhow: today marks my first month of blogging. Good news? You bet. As for the hit counter…well, let’s just say “slow and steady”.
Needless to say, this is going to be a pretty short and informal post. I just thought that, having completed a full month of aniblogging (and having made that sound like a difficult task), I should toss together a couple paragraphs on my thoughts of the medium. Well, maybe not a couple paragraphs; I’m sure a few sentences could do the job, but knowing me, that’s not going to happen.
Getting back on topic, however, I have to say that I’m enjoying this whole blogging thing. As you may or may not be aware, this is my absolute first blog, anime or not – I completely skipped the whole “ramble about anime and your daily life on Blogger” step. While it was more than a little daunting at first with the time and devotion required to maintain a blog (and I thought I was busy before I started), not to mention with the community of highly experienced otaku that watch RAWs and travel to Japan, I somehow managed to pull through – and more importantly, I realized that it isn’t nearly as hard a task as I expected.
As a matter of fact, one could even call it fun.
So with that said, I still have many months of blogging ahead of me; I’m hoping this site sees me through my high school years and far into the future, so far that it isn’t even worth thinking about. Reminiscence aside, right now we’re approaching the Fall season, and with a ton of great anime to watch and blog about, connections to be made across the internet, and *gasp* a novel to write, there’s no doubt that I’ll be busy. But it’ll be worth it. That’s why I’m sitting here tonight typing this, instead of watching the last few eps of Allison and Lillia – it’s surprisingly fun.
Don’t mean to be greedy, but we need more Shana someday soon.
Also, before I forget: I’ll be heading off to New York in the beginning of November for about a week. Am I excited? Of course, especially since I’ve never really seen America before (oddly enough), but I’ll be with my school, which is both good and bad. On the plus side, senior trip! w00t! I doubt there’ll be any hijinks involving rooming arrangements and hot springs, but it should be fun nonetheless. On the downside, however, I probably won’t have much time to wander around and meet people…not that there should be anyone to meet. To my knowledge the only anibloggers living in NYC are JPMeyer and Hinano, unless I’m missing someone (which in all likelihood I am). Regardless, it’s not like I know either of them well at all, but for what it’s worth, we’ll be in the same city for a week! Not that it matters. Bottom line: you’ll know that I’m gone on the trip when I either disappear from the blog for a week or when my posts drift away from anime as I end up rambling about things no one really cares to hear.
So anyway, that’s about it! One month down, tons to go…someday, I’ll look back on this post and think about how childish it was of me to write about something like this, but who cares? All I know is that I’ll be here for a long time to come, providing you with your daily several-times-a-weekly dose of wordy otaku blather. So, like I always say, TSUZUKU!

Achievement whore. :P
Actually, being around for a month is kind of cool, since you should now be officially eligible for Anime Nano. That plus the AB.net Antenna does wonders for blog exposure, so unless you’re too cool to be listed, I would suggest to sign up for that.
Good luck with keeping the blog alive, and have fun in New York. Too bad you’re a touch too late for NYAF…and too bad all of that stuff is a couple thousand miles away anyway. XD
And there were a lot of anibloggers at NYAF at least, although I don’t know how many were in the area (I think DS is … ) either. Come drop by the #animeblogger channel on IRCHighway sometimes. There’s a lot of people there. ^^
Congratulations; they say making it through the first month bodes well for the future, not that I’d really know about that. Have a good NYC trip – try to avoid the bankers throwing themselves out of skyscrapers having lost everything.
Good for you, I’m pretty sure your blog already got more hits than mine lol (I’m doing a pretty crappy job -_-)
Last year of high school can get pretty intense, so school should be top priority. I’m waiting for you next year, you know you’re coming to UWO D=<
One more thing, you may have seen on my blog (about a certain coloured road with a not so appropriate theme^^), guys around this age can do pretty stupid things when there’s no adult around, just a word of wisdom lol.
Congrats!
Already one month? That means theres a pretty high chance that you wont loose interest anytime soon.
Im a first time blogger myself and started directly with wordpress and its great how easy you can pull off a good looking site with it.Id recommend you to sign up at Anime Nano and DannyChoo to increase blog traffic. It will boost your traffic significantly.
So youre writing on a novel eh?What kinda?
I suck at writing and even more in english ;-P
Hope you’ll have an awesome time in New York. And yes, make sure you keep having fun blogging :D. If it’s not fun, there’s no point in doing it.
The hardest thing to do is to maintain your interest in blogging after those first couple of months, so I’m glad to see that you’ve been able to do what many haven’t in sticking with it. And it’s good to see that you’ll keep on doing so. :P
Waahh.. Congratz for your 1st month!! ^^
Tough it just your 1st month, i see your blog are better than mee.. I was so envy.. XDD
Keep blogging to the end !^^
@ CCY: Someday soon I’ll get into spending some time on IRC…probably as soon as I stop whining about being busy and actually try to finish everything that I’m working on instead of playing Stepmania >_>
@ IKnight: I’ll keep that in mind XD
@ GNdynames: I actually have another year after this – the grade 11s and 12s always end up going on the same trips, hence my careless use of the word “senior”. I’m sure we’ll see each other someday though ^^;
@ Blowfish: At the moment I’m working on the first book of a fantasy trilogy, but I also plan on entering the almost non-existent community of OEL light novels, focusing on romance/slice of life. I’ll post more about my work in the future…after I actually finish something ^^;
M12: Of course. If these things aren’t fun, they why are we doing them? xP
TheBigN: Thanks! I’m not sure what exactly I’m trying to prove, but I know I’m not going to give up like a lot of people seem to do.
Sandy-kun: lol, thanks. If us amateur bloggers stick together, we’ll ALL end up benefitting xP
Thanks to all of you for your support! Someday in the future I’ll be looking back on this post, just like my introductory post, and I’ll remember you all as my first readers! XD
Seems like you’re a lot more popular than I was after one month! Congrats on your first month anyway.
I think I remember that BigN lives in DC. I’ll stalk him one day. Maybe he studies medicine at Georgetown, GWU or something.
Writing 19 posts in one month doesn’t help keeping the burn-out away, neither. But on that note, school only exacerbates the problem…
Well, I’m in Connecticut but I like to visit NY when I can. Have fun on your trip!
DSs last blog post..Toradora the Explorer (aka danGo Diego danGo) 01
Sounds like you’re having fun blogging x) im nearly a year into blogging, although I stopped halfway due to work killing me. Meh. I hope you have fun there, I never went there too =(
zenicals last blog post..September Site Stats and Updates
@ lelangir: I guess consistency is the main thing. I’d be afraid to post too often for fear of running out of things to talk about lol.
@ DS: Thanks!
@ zenical: I guess work and school are the two biggest enemies of aniblogging, aside from otaku burnout itself. Good luck in the future!
Congratz.
Everyone starts of slowly and as M12 said, it’s not fun if ur not enjoying it. ^^
