So, I was looking through some of my old unsorted merchandise recently when I suddenly realized something: I’ve got the entire current-gen Touhou series sitting in my room, still sealed as PaletWeb delivered them. I was thinking of putting them back where I found them, but much like in one of my previous merchandise posts, a familiar thought struck me – I’m a blogger, and what do bloggers do when they have a mass of things that they can’t really use but want to show the world anyway?
Yeah, you guessed it. They take pictures and post them instead of, y’know, actually writing something.
Now, you’re probably wondering (again) why I would go through the trouble of obtaining all of this, although you probably know the answer as well. As a dedicated Touhou fan, I figured I owed it to myself to buy the original games, even though we all know they can be downloaded virtually legitimately. Sure, it isn’t the most practical series of purchases in the world, but then again, who’s ever heard of anime merchandise that actually has practical value?

Also, if any of you have ordered anything from PaletWeb, you probably would have noticed one thing: they always seem to give out little goodies with every order. Likewise, with my Subterranean Animism preorder, I got this along with it.
Pretty cool, hmm? I also received a little post card for ordering early enough.
Needless to say, none of these things are particularly rare or valuable (or at least I don’t think they are), but they’re nice to have anyway – especially since they’re free.

Neko-something…I need a translator.
Somehow I get the feeling this says “okaerinasai mase, goshujinsama”

No clue about this one, but, uh…it involves Reimu!
I suppose that’s just about all there is to say. Do you occasionally buy merchandise that you can’t exactly use? Not figures and artbooks of course; stuff that feel like they should have a use, like a game, except when you already have them on your computer. I know some people claim to torrent VNs to test them out and buy them legitimately later, but who knows, maybe people actually do that? Personally, the only games that I have that I can’t use are my Touhou collection and Narcissu Side 2nd (because Narcissu is awesome, ’nuff said). Even if I can’t use them, though, I can’t say that I regret any of these purchases; it’s just one of those crazy things that fans do. Besides, who wouldn’t want legit copies of some of their favourite games?
…And who wouldn’t want a free Touhou/Lucky Star crossover button?
