Mother 3 Fan Translation – Welcome to Moonside, in English!

by eternal on October 18, 2008

No, you’re not reading this wrong; there’s only one video game series on Earth (to my knowledge) in which a Carpet Monster would be brave enough to block your way. That’s right, it’s the latest incarnation of Earthbound, and it’s now in English.

Frankly, this is pretty much just a small update before I start posting on ef and Clannad again, but for those of you who haven’t yet heard the news, it’s definitely a worthy update. While the original Earthbound on the SNES may not have been for everybody, it’s quirky sense of humour and bizarre characters quickly won over legions of fans, even those born after the SNES generation like myself; and now, it looks like the translation for the GBA sequel Mother 3 has been released. Now you won’t have to wonder who Lukas is every time you play Super Smash Bros Brawl!

Major thanks to THAT for informing me of this little gem, and of course to the translators for supporting one of the most original RPGs ever made. Go grab the patch at their site, and start playing as soon as you can – modern and old-school gamers alike. Trust me, the Carpet Monster won’t be the last of the insanity.

XD A carpet monster huh?
I played Super Smash Bros and seen Lucas and Ness…though to be honest. I never played the games with them….they must be pretty good.

Hm I love classic games, but Earthbound is one that I’ve missed out on. Maybe I can pick this up sometime. Thanks for letting us know about the translation.
